Description
Saint-Germain-de-Montbron, été 1849. Pour le plus grand bonheur des paroissiens de cette bucolique commune rurale située en Charente, un nouveau curé se présente enfin au presbytère. Or, le jeune Roland Charvaz n’a manifestement pas la vocation; il favorise de loin les conquêtes féminines au détriment de la salvation des âmes. Pour sa part, Mathilde, la jolie épouse du docteur de Salignac et mère d’un petit garçon, n’a jamais connu la passion amoureuse, du moins, jusqu’au jour où le nouveau religieux s’installe tout près de chez elle.
Dès leur première rencontre, c’est le coup de foudre et les deux amants se lancent dans une aventure torride, à l’insu de tous. Leur secret honteux ne sera pas éventé jusqu’à ce que la nouvelle domestique du curé découvre leur liaison illicite.
Scandalisée, Annie Meunier menace de tout révéler au mari trompé et à l’évêché. Elle ne sait dans quel piège elle vient de mettre les pieds, car Roland et Mathilde sont prêts à tout pour sauver leur honneur… et leur relation.
